On 1st December the Moon, Jupiter and Venus aligned to form a smiley face! The smiley face could only be seen in the southern hemisphere, with those in the northern hemisphere seeing it as a frown. The crescent moon formed the mouth, Venus the left eye and Jupiter the right eye.
In Western Australia we were fortunate to have perfect conditions for the event with only a vry slight scattering of high level cloud and no wind at all. The twilight colours were quite spectacular together with the celestial objects forming the smiley face.
Our photographs sho the celestial objects over a still lake, with the twilight colours bathing the sky and lake, and silhouettes of trees in the foreground and distance.
We now have prints of five different scenes featuring the alignment available for purchase: All prints are now in stock, available in 12" x 8" and 50cm x 33cm sizes. Prints at the huge 80cmx 50cm are available for most on request.
