Same phone, fax, email and web site. Same people - just more space, 2 floors, client parking. Funky new building. Good old fashioned customer service.

Do pop in next year and see us in our new aussiehome!

History of the Net - 1. The ARPAnet
For those too afraid to ask, and for the generally inquisitive who may like to amaze your friends at (Christmas) parties with trivial facts, here's the first historical vignette telling you about the birth of the Internet...

Back in 1957 the Russians put the first satellite into space (Sputnik). This disturbed the American government of the time who thought they were losing the 'space race', and so they established the 'Advanced Research Project Agency' (ARPA) to accelerate development of their own technology.

Allied to this, a network of computers was first mooted in 1968 (the ARPANET) which hooked up 4 universities involved in the ARPA project. The ARPANET was to the forerunner of the "Internet", but even in the 1960s was being nicknamed (by the techno whizzes that created it - see picture) the 'Intergalactic Network'. At the time though, you would not have been able to recognise it as the modern day system of web sites we know and love today...

Part 2 of the Internet story will appear next month: with Ray Tomlinson, the inventor of email
