Record Traffic again for aussiehome.com

Record traffic again to aussiehome.com in July! With over 378,000 visits to the aussiehome.com web site in July, our traffic (again) trounced all previous records - in fact this was 15% higher than the record set in May (330,000 visits).

The average per day now is over 12,000 (including weekends where it usually dips a bit), and in fact there were only 3 days in the whole month where daily traffic top aussiehome.com fell below 10,000.

Considering how concentrated our coverage is (higher end suburbs in Perth and WA), we would argue that page views per property are still the best on our site than anywhere else: 10,792,247 pages were viewed in July - mainly to the 7000 or so property pages on the site.

The inexorable shift of property search from print to internet media continues, and to our site - go the Web!

New Short Term Rental Search

New Holiday + Short Stay SearchNEW! You may have noticed a new holiday and short stay search link on our home page. This is due to the increasing demand from clients and web users.

To get your property into this search (they also come up in the regular search for rent, but tend to get swamped there), the property must be FOR RENT, and also have the 'HOLIDAY' lifestyle option ticked.

News from the Old Dart

Impressions of UK - July 2007aussiehome.com MD Charlie Gunningham was back in the UK in July, and amid the floods, brought back a few impressions:

~ real estate agencies advertise their web site address (only) on their 'For Sale' signs - they tend to only have their brand name, For Sale and web address. Keep it Simple I suppose, and use the web site.

~ web site advertising seems to dominate everything - not just in real estate - every other TV/radio/magazine ad is for an online business, web addresses are everywhere. The largest real estate site (RightMove.co.uk) dominates the market with 87% of all listings in the country, and is a listed company on the London Stock Market, worth almost A$2billion.

~ the weather was particularly shocking - you would heard about the worst flooding in 60 years (see picture) - it was great to get back to Perth (to more rain, but where such rain is more of a relief than for the long suffering Brits!). Charlie is not planning to move back to England anytime soon.

What's in a name?

At a recent lunch he was addressing, our aussiehome Director was introduced as 'Charlie Cunningham from Aussie Home Loans' . It's a common one, as 'Gunningham' is very close to the more well known Cunningham, and "AussieHomes" is a well established brand and is a source of initial confusion at times to "aussiehome.com".

We sometimes get emails sent to 'aussiehomes.com' - they will not reach us as the owners of that site are (allegedly) 'cybersquatting' - sitting in the domain name waiting for someone to make them an offer - although we are linked from the home page if you go there. In the past, people have walked in off the street asking for a home loan (true story!).

What's in a name? Do tell us what you think... - with a prize for the best answers!
