Dear AUSTSWIM Teacher,

Welcome to the first Aqualife E-newsletter. This newsletter replaces the quarterly e-magazine and will be circulated to all AUSTSWIM teachers once a month to keep you up to date on industry news.

With summer underway it is an important for all AUSTSWIM teachers of swimming and water safety to ensure they to continue to educate parents and children on the importance of learn to swim and water safety and supervision.
Recent Royal Life Saving Society Australia figures revealed 302 Australians drowned over the past 12 months, 41 more than the previous year. Remind parents to ensure that children are constantly supervised in and around the water and that they receive regular learn to swim and water safety aquatic education in a fun, engaging and safe environment by appropriately accredited AUSTSWIM Teachers.

It's important that parents understand that supervision means constant visual contact, not just the occasional glance. Remind parents never turn their back on toddlers, children or swimming companions. Don't look away, don't walk off and don't get distracted. More than 50 children aged between 1 and 15 drown each year in Australia. AUSTSWIM teachers play a vital role educating the community on water safety.

AUSTSWIM would like to wish all our teachers, presenters, recognised swim schools and their families a very happy Christmas, New Year and a safe water safety season.

Gordon Mallett, AUSTSWIM Chief Executive Officer
