The industry is picking up heading towards the end of 2009 and feedback from the market in general suggests that we can expect a very positive return to increasing prospects. November has seen many new opportunities come online in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay and Bowen and as always the Townsville Market is still strong. Whilst Cairns has been a little slower in recent weeks, good news is that all signs are pointing to a very positive outlook for major construction opportunities in 2010. Some of those opportunities are in the tender market and available online right now!.
At BIO we are continually working for our members to ensure that you have access to all the resources your need to run your business. As the pace picks up, when you need help, you will need it quickly! We are pleased to announce that we have been able to negotiate two more agreements in our Member Benefits package.

General Public. Online Project Registration now active!. Our General Public members can now register their projects online making it even quicker and easier for them to get their requirements straight through to industry. This free services is available for anyone looking to have work carried out at their current place of residence, commercial premises or undertake a project that is entirely new. Buy & Sell Upgrade Coming up to Christmas don't forget about our free member service offered through the BIO Buy & Sell. This service is complimentary to your membership and we have upgraded the service to now count the "clicks" so you can quickly see how much interest your ad attracts. You can put anything industry related up for sale and we will promote the service through our newsletters. A great way to get rid of old tools, left over building materials or promote discounted supplier specials.
Subcontractors Profile Multiple Document Search Filter available now in the advanced document view! Need to find a list of documents in a hurry? Our system upgrade in the Advanced Document View, make this very quick and simple. Enter key words or numbers from your document list separated by a "+" sign. All the documents you are looking for will display in one fast and easy action. Step by Step instructions are available in our Online Help as well as in the quick links on the ADV page. Try it!.
Builders Profile. BIO Personalised Regions are now active! BIO Builders can extend the full benefits of the BIO system to include their own staff!. Keep your site staff in the loop of project updates and document changes at the same time as your subbies and suppliers. Your staff can benefit from the full mobility offered through the BIO system and have all the information they require for their projects at their finger tips!. The use of dates will soon be "optional" when loading tenders or live projects through the BIO system. Whilst you will still have to give your projects an estimated start date, as well as estimated project length, exact dates will be "optional" when loading your trade requirements. This development will be in our live system very soon. Enhancement to Document Upload - Private Document Exchange. We have upgraded the Builders profile to include multiple selection of individual companies when allocating documents through your private exchange. This is a great new time saving feature for when you need to allocate the same documents to number of project team members at one time. The private document exchange is an excellent tool to use when you don't want or need certain information to be displayed to every project team member. This feature is live now!
All Users Enhancement to our Notification System. To further personalise our system we have enhanced our notifications to included the actual contact names as well as the company names in all e-mail subject headings. Building Industry Online is unique in that all communication you receive from our system is initiated by the actual BIO Member. Notifications are not automated. Ignoring notifications is similar to igonoring direct requests from your potential clients and customers. New System Links - "My Profile Page" To make is easy for our members to have access to everything from one central place you will see our new system links are now live. If you know of anyone looking at getting work completed and they are not sure where to start, direct them to the BIO webiste. From the link on our front page they can get their project details and documents inside the BIO system for our members to assist. This is a fantastic service for the General Public that can produce nothing but increased work opportunities for all members!

Christmas Shut Down Periods!
A majority of our members have reported that their Christmas Shutdown periods for this year will start from Friday the 18th of December, with work recommencing on Monday the 4th of January. Whilst there is some deviation within these dates it appears that the latest start dates for our members in 2010 will be Monday the 11th of January.

| Watch Out for.... |
Update on BER Project - Round 2 Underway in Townsivlle and Cairns Region from January 2010 Hansen Yuncken have advised that the tendering will commence from early / mid Janaury 2010. They have stated that they expect each tender to run over a period of 2 to 3 weeks and that new tenders will be made avaialble to the market every couple of weeks, between January and April 2010. PQC Level 1 or 2 qualifications are required in order to tender as a Project Contractor to the Construciton Manager ( Hansen Yuncken) on these projects. There are a number of contracts available ranging from $300,000 to $2.2million and construction will commence (whether permiting) from February 2010.
Need help to get your PQC Qualification? Under the "Keep Australia Working" initiative, Building Industry Online together with the PQC Registrar from the Department of Public Works will be holding workshops in the Townsville, Ayr, Ingham and Charters Towers. During these workshops the PQC system will be explained and you will be given assistance to complete and submit your forms on the day. This is a free workshop and registration is essential. Click here to download your registration form. If you are already PQC qualified you may still wish to come along. The PQC registrar will be available to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your prequalification.
