December 2009 Edition
A Word from the Managing Director
2009 has been a challenging year, particularly for the aviation sector. The start of 2009 saw the economic fall out in the United States begin to take effect here, but by May, I am happy to say, the signs of recovery were there with the forecast business downturn in Australia perhaps not as challenging as first expected and in some cases, the changing economic landscape opened up new opportunities. The banking and finance sector, well performing Australian dollar and increased business confidence have all played a part in the recovery towards the end of the year. The outlook for 2010 is much brighter compared to this time last year.
Aeromil Pacific has continued a strong pattern of growth across the divisions of the company. As the year has progressed and the economic recovery gained momentum, so has the interest and enquiry with aircraft sales. Sales and deliveries over the last twelve months include another Citation X, a Sovereign, five Mustangs purchased by Singapore Flying College and deliveries to New Zealand and Perth. The year has also produced a number of pre-owned Citation sales and, just last week, the delivery of two new Grand Caravans to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Queensland Section. Looking forward, 2010 promises to be another exciting year with two new Mustang deliveries in the first quarter and the much anticipated release of the new Cessna CJ4 and the Cessna Skycatcher, with Aeromil Pacific holding forward orders for both aircraft.
The aircraft Maintenance and Product Support Divisions continue to play an important role in the performance of the company. A restructuring of the business and investment in staff and resources has further strengthened our aircraft maintenance capability and customer service support. This year we have welcomed many new customers and accounts domestically and internationally.
A highlight of the year was the visit to Australia by Jack Pelton, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cessna Aircraft Company. During the visit in September, Jack Pelton met with many Aeromil Pacific/Cessna customers, presented the key note speech at the 2009 RAAA Convention and took some time to see some of our great country.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our business associates and in particular, our customers, for their support in 2009. I am looking forward to 2010 and in the new year sharing with you some very exciting announcements.
On behalf of everyone at Aeromil Pacific, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
Steve Padgett
