ANZ SPORTS STAR AWARDS

The Nomination Forms for all Awards categories have been distributed to State Sports Associations. Electronic versions are on the Federation's website at www.wasportsfed.asn.au as an alternative.

Closing date for all nominations is Friday 26th October, 2007. Any nominee's achievement updates (from 26th October to 30th November) may be forwarded to RobThompson@wasportsfed.asn.au 

BE ACTIVE GRANT GUIDELINES

Healthway, in conjunction with the Premier's Physical Activity Taskforce (PATF) is offering grants on behalf of the Disability Services Commission (DSC), to any statutory or incorporated body that can provide sustainable and inclusive opportunities for increasing participation on physical activity, for people with disabilities.

Funding between $5,000 and $60,000 is available to local governments and community groups to encourage innovative approaches to increasing physical activity. Projects may be 12 months or 24 months in length. Matching dollar for dollar funding is required. Rural local governments can provide in-kind contributions.

 Round 7 is now open. Applications must be received by 4pm 19 October 2007.

CONGRATULATIONS SUE FALCONER
Congratulations are extended to Sue Falconer for officiating in her 2 000th volleyball game during the Perth Volleyball League (PVL) Grand Finals.

Sue has had a long and distinguished association with WA Volleyball since 1977. She has undertaken various roles since her playing days, such as Secretary, Manager for many state and national teams, and also as a Referee. She has officiated at junior volleyball, social volleyball, PVL volleyball, national volleyball and international volleyball levels. Sue is a life member of the Association and a present Board Member.
ROYAL LIFE SAVING TRAINING COURSES

The Australian Resuscitation Council and Royal Life Saving recommends that resuscitation qualifications are updated annually. They are holding refresher courses during summer from the 11 November.

On completion of this CPR training course, participants will gain competence in Primary survey DRABCD, Cardio pulmonary resuscitation, Responding to emergencies, Choking, and Bleeding. view the Royal Life Saving website for course details.

CORPORATE LUNCHEON WITH ANDREW DEMETRIOU

A corporate luncheon, presented by Specialized Training and Development, on achieving excellence in leadership, with special guest Andrew Demetriou, CEO of the AFL
