Stepping Out Under the Stars

The planets were well aligned to celebrate 25 years of leadership by the ASCP Foundation at its special event "Stepping Out Under the Stars" in Philadelphia last month. The setting was the Fels Planetarium in the nationally renowned Franklin Institute.

Special thanks to our sponsors whose leadership gifts helped make the event such a success:

  • Amgen
  • AstraZeneca
  • Forest Laboratories
  • sanofi-aventis
  • Wyeth
  • Abbott Laboratories
  • Achieve Healthcare Technologies
  • Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals
  • Eisai, Inc.
  • Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems
  • Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals
  • Teva Neuroscience
  • QS/1 Data Systems

Proceeds from the event support the Foundation’s strategic initiatives and the Tim Webster Endowment.

Current Board Chair Frank Cirillo spoke at the event. Frank played an instrumental role in the early years of the Foundation. He was a member of the team at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals that secured a million dollar grant that set the Foundation on its path of major contributions to the field of medications and senior care.

Former Board Chair Maude Babington served as auctioneer. Maude also was involved in the early years of the Foundation, serving as its first staff member. In more recent years she has served as a member of the development committee and board of trustees, culminating in a three-year term as board chair. Here Maude takes bids in the live auction of a photograph donated by ASCP’s 2006-2007 President Joseph Gruber.

Former ASCP President and Treasurer Herb Langsam chatted with Philip Gerbino, PharmD, president of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.  Dr. Gerbino was the 1986 recipient of ASCP’s highest honor, the George F. Archambault Award.

Sharon and Bob Miller enjoyed dancing to the music of the live jazz ensemble. Bob is a past president of ASCP, a former member of the ASCP Foundation Board of Trustees, and was named Fundraiser of the Year earlier this year.

Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence

Celebrate the ASCP Foundation's 25th anniversary by creating an annual gift in perpetuity through a gift to the Tim Webster Endowment. Endowment funds are invested in safe, but high yield instruments that generate income for the Foundation. An endowment gift of $10,000 earning 5% would create an annual gift of $500 ~ FOREVER.

Pledges may be paid over three to five years. Consider starting your endowment gift this year in honor of the Foundation's 25th anniversary. Contact Barbara Kincaid at bkincaid@ascp.com.
