Concrete 07 approaching record numbers

Already more than 400 are registered to attend Concrete 07 to be conducted in Adelaide, South Australia from 18 to 20 October 2007.
Loreto Taglienti, conference organising committee chairman, and his team have worked tirelessly to bring together what promises to be one of the most outstanding biennial conferences yet mounted by the Institute.
With a bit over 2 weeks to go, it is possible that record numbers will be attracted to Concrete 07.
The conference program offers an impressive line up of local and international keynote presenters in addition to a comprehensive range of technical papers, again from Australia and overseas.
If you have not registered to attend Concrete 07, now is the time to act.  Click on the Concrete 07 logo to the right to register online or use the registration brochure which has been distributed widely throughout the industry.

PTIA launch at Concrete 07

Post-Tensioning Institute of Australia will continue its launch in conjunction with Concrete 07 and its members will have a major presence as part of the conference exhibition.
The Institute has been working with PTIA to improve the technical awareness amongst the Institute's broad membership of prestressing and post-tensioning.  Already two seminars conducted jointly have attracted more than 300 registrants and further seminars are being planned for the near future.
PTIA will sponsor refreshments at the sundown session of the Concrete 07 exhibition on the afternoon of Friday, 19 October.  In addition to finding out the latest information on the PTIA's activities, those who attend will be able to network and view an impressive range of equipment, materials, design applications and systems on display by the extensive range of exhibitors.
Further information on PTIA and its activities is available from their web site.  Just click on the PTIA logo to the left for a direct link to their site.

Awards winners to be announced at Concrete 07

Entrants in the current Excellence Awards program will see their entries featured in a major display at Concrete 07.  Winners will be announced at the Concrete 07 gala dinner being held on Saturday, 20 October at the Adelaide Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The winners will be announced by Dominique Schwarz, local ABC TV personality who will be anchoring the Awards and other presentations to be made on the evening.
Tickets for the dinner are in high demand.  More than 500 are expected to attend so if you would like to book a table, now is the time to act.  For table bookings, register through the Concrete 07 web site.

Masonry seminar to focus on water sensitive urban design

Concrete Masonry Association of Australia together with the Institute are offering a special segmental paving seminar in conjunction with Concrete 07.
The water sensitive urban design seminar will focus on permeable concrete segmental pavements and will introduce new hydraulic and structural pavement software.
Details of the seminar are available for download from the Seminars and Meetings section of the Institute's web site.  Alternatively click on the CMAA logo for further details.

New staff to meet with members at Concrete 07

The Institute's new Project Manager responsible for technical issues including standards, publications, technical policy and education will commence in mid October and will be at Concrete 07 to meet with Institute members and to witness first hand the outstanding level of technical capabilities present within the Institute's membership.
Ben Cosson has been in the industry for about six years so he may be known to some already. Ben will also be joined by Nicole Raymond and Lynda Kennedy.
Nicole is from the national office and looks after membership matters and national events. Lynda, aka the "Queen of Concrete" is from the Institute's Brisbane office.
All three will be staffing exhibition booth No.1 in the exhibition area and will welcome the opportunity to meet with members.
Jo Harman, Paula Hogg and Anthony Peek will hold down the fort whilst everyone else is in Adelaide.

The cutting edge in concrete fastening and connection design

An invitation is extended by Hilti to attend the Hilti Fastening Academy at Concrete 07.  The Hilti Fastening Academy is your opportunity to hear about the latest developments in fastening technology from our local and international consultants. The objective is to share knowledge and research results on the principles of anchors and on how the combination of Hilti products and new design concepts co-exist to strengthen slabs.
Pre-register before 12th October to  mark.esdaile@hilti.com and receive a complimentary genuine Hilti Swiss Army knife (to be picked up on the day). Registration to Concrete 07 is not required for attendance at the academy.
Attendance at this Fastening Academy will also count toward Continuing Professional Development with IEAust. Certificates will be available at the conclusion of the academy.
Click on the Hilti Fastening Academy logo for more details.
