Our lastest blog post: Is it Karma?

Kellie's latest post Is it Karma? reminds us the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

"My mother has always been quite happy to tell all and sundry what a monster of a child I was once my younger brother came along.

Look, I may have gotten a little upset when I went from 100% attention to, well, none as my brother was a terrible sleeper, had reflux and generally required round the clock attention.

Me? I was pretty much left to my own devices. But when the parents weren't looking, I would undertake a little personal revenge..."

Egg Allergy Prevention Study

Do allergies run in your family? Your baby could be at risk of food allergies...

STEP Trial
This research trial specifically focuses on egg allergy. Egg allergy is the most common food allergy affecting children in Australia. It is now increasingly evident that avoidance is not the answer. Instead, there is a mounting body of evidence to indicate that immune tolerance to "allergy-causing" foods can be achieved through early, regular exposure to such foods.

This study will determine whether early and regular feeding of egg will reduce the risk of infants developing egg allergy. Babies born to mothers who have a previous history of asthma, eczema, hay fever or atopic dermatitis are at a higher risk of developing food allergy.

Volunteers:
Pregnant women with a history of allergic disease and/or babies under the age of 6.5 months.

Smart Steps Tip

Did you know?
Children's peripheral (or side) vision does't fully develop until they are 10 years old? Until then children only have about one third of the peripheral vision of adults. This makes it difficult for children under 10 to see oncoming cars.

Smart Steps Hint…
Teach your children to look in all directions by turning their head to the left and right to check for traffic before crossing the road.
