Families who have young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are benefitting from PlayConnect playgroups that have started in Hillarys, Tuart Hill, North Perth, Redcliffe, South Lakes, Waikiki and Greenfields.

PlayConnect Playgroups offer a place for local families to connect with other local families who are experiencing similar parenting journeys.

Being able to meet and connect with other families in similar situations has provided support during, what is for many, a difficult time. Playgroup is a great way to create a support network.

Sing and Grow Together: Music Through the Day is a workshop and resource designed to arm parents and carers with a variety of musical ideas to make the undertaking of daily tasks with young children easier and more enjoyable.

Music motivates children with its fun, non-threatening manner of delivering instructions. It is also a great tool for stimulating a child's development.

Sing and Grow Together: Music Through the Day workshops run for one hour, and are designed for up to 10 families to attend. Each family receives a “Sing and Grow Together: Music Through the Day” resource pack with accompanying Sing and Grow Together CD.

Case study research is being conducted at ECU to explore the topic of role balance for women who hold these three roles. Participation involves completing a questionnaire, time diary and interview. Further information about the study can be found in Kiah Evans profile.

Annual Save the Children Book Sale at UWA
If you run social services programs, have kids, are expecting a baby, or just want the chance to fatten your bookshelves, this is the event for you. There will be around 100,000 second-hand books for sale!

Great Dinosaur Dig - Baldivis Children's Forest
Grab a spade and brush to excavate for bones under the forest floor. Cast your own fossil to take home. Enjoy a morning tea for ‘cave dwellers’. Gold coin donation, 10am-12pm.

August 24: 
Adjusting to Baby and Change therapeutic group program in Balcatta
A 9 week cognitive-behavioural therapy program which aims to empower new Mums, and teach skills and behaviours aimed at reducing symptoms of postnatal stress, depression and anxiety. This is a free services on Tuesday afternoons, 12.45-2.45pm, with a crèche provided.
