Welcome to the second customer newsletter which sees the New Year in with some exciting developments at Resonance Health, providers of the first regulated MRI liver iron test, FerriScan®. In this issue you can find out the latest about new research on Fibrosis, read about how a president got on with FerriScan and check out all the latest news as we wish all our customers a happy and successful 2006. With new sites activated in the past two months, FerriScan is now accessible at 36 sites throughout the world and we thank you for your continued support in improving health outcomes for people suffering from iron overload conditions.

Also in this issue we've got another hamper to give away too. Last month the lucky winner was Tim Brighton from Sydney Australia, so don't forget to complete our quick question by January 31st for your chance to win!

New Fibrosis Test Emerges Strongly from Proof of Concept

The proof of concept on our new fibrosis test is now complete with data demonstrating that highly accurate reading of fibrosis and structual liver damage can be obtained from the MRI technology. This signifies a major step forward in the search for a highly accurate, non-invasive alternative to liver biopsy for measuring fibrosis and damage in liver tissue and will see a second product bought to market. A US patent application for the technology has already been lodged and data will be published in a peer reviewed journal in coming months.

Tim St Pierre explained; "Whilst other non-invasive fibrosis tests focus only on Hepatitis C based fibrosis, our new test will encompass the complete spectrum of liver disease. The data has demonstrated that we can develop a new fibrosis test with a high level of sensitivity and specificity which will have huge clinical application."

Clinicians and MRI centres interested in participating in clinical studies are invited to contact info@ferriscan.com for more information on how they can be involved in the further development of this exciting new technology.

FerriScan Gains Independent, International Validation

Last month FerriScan gained independent validation both at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) conference in Atlanta and in top peer reviewed medical journal 'Blood' - demonstrating increasing recognition in the clinical community. Whilst FerriScan is already validated against the current 'gold standard' Liver Biopsy, the ASH conference marked an independent validation of the test following its use in a clinical study undertaken by a major pharmaceutical company (click here to view the full release).

The poster presentation which displayed these results at the conference coincided with a review in top international journal 'Blood' that highlights the role of MRI for liver iron testing in the diagnosis of hemochromatosis and a spectrum of iron related disorders. US Presence Strengthened

Resonance Health has been taking FerriScan around the world in a conference circuit that included the annual meeting of the Radiology Society of North America in Chicago, the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease in San Francisco and the ASH conference in Atlanta. In addition the appointment of US advisors Montgomery Pacific will accelerate commercial activitites in the US and complement clinical programs running with the Thalassemia Clinical Research Network and the pharamaceutical industry. As well as meeting many customers face to face at the conference, FerriScan also attracted strong interest from new clinicians and industry at these confereces.

Glenn Smith, Marketing & Sales Director at Resonance Health said; "Resonance Health is already providing FerriScan at over 36 centres throughout the world and our attendance at these international events provoked a significant interest amongst clinicians and industry in both FerriScan and the continuing development of our new test for non-invasive measurement of Fibrosis".

President takes a FerriScan at Southern X-Ray

Southern X-ray Clinics at The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane recently rolled out the red carpet for Margaret Rankin - President of the Australian Haemochromatosis Society when she came for her first FerriScan.

Margaret, whose condition remained undiagnosed for years, had to have a double hip replacement after her joints grossly degenerated. Margaret suffered years of tiredness which affected her career until doctors finally pinpointed the cause as 'haemochromatosis', a genetic condition that causes iron overload.

Margaret explained that despite its relatively common occurrence, lack of awareness was still a major problem. "I was a nurse and yet I'd never heard of haemochromatosis or iron overload. I thought if I hadn't heard of it, then there were probably many in the medical community who hadn't either and people were most likely walking around with iron overload like me and remaining undetected for years."

Margaret, who received a Queens Honour recently for her work for the Haemochromatosis community, is among the first patients to benefit from FerriScan at Southern X-Ray MRI clinic. Margaret said: "The FerriScan was quick and painless and is an excellent alternative to liver biopsy for patients who want to find out their exact level of iron loading. The Haemochromatosis Society is working with the providers of FerriScan, Resonance Health, to promote awareness of iron overload and improve health outcomes for people affected by this disease.

" Kym Foster, Medical Liaison Officer at Southern X-Ray Clinics said: "Being the only site in Queensland has enabled us to expand our range of services and lead the way in new technology that improves health outcomes for patients suffering from iron overload. It is a fast and simple procedure performed via an MRI scan and the results are available within 48hours."
